Software Development Intern

iCatalysts, a San Francisco consulting and software firm, is seeking a part-time software development intern from approximately October 1, 2021 through January 2022 for 12 to 16 hours per week.   Our intention for this position is to continue to work with the individual after the end of this period if mutually agreeable.

This position will be remote and can be located in any US state.

Applicants should hold a master’s degree or be in a master’s or PHD program in computer science or data/information science. The candidate should have experience or substantial course work in python and network science.

This position will focus on supporting and significantly enhancing is a network analytics platform developed by ICatalysts to measure innovation in communities and markets and to gain actionable insight to improve investment and tech to market program decisions. The software is based on  network science (NS), particularly a sub-field called Social Network Analysis (SNA).  Network science is a foundation for social media networks and it’s used in all major search engines. Ours is a commercial product with customers that include state agencies that invest over $1 billion annually.

The candidate who joins our team will benefit by expanding her/his research, network science and software development knowledge and skills.  We are seeking a self-motivated and action-oriented individual interested in doing impactful work in technology innovation.

The selected candidate will work with a product manager, and senior and mid-level developers and data scientists. We meet regularly weekly on video and voice calls to help each other and coordinate progress.

Requirements

General requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of work or post secondary experience in computer science or research using CS
  • Strong interest in the project and to learn and experiment with new development.
  • Highly organized with a natural attention to detail
  • Strong listening, oral, written and presentation skills
  • Experience working successfully with other team members
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, complete activities and meet deadlines

Compensation

We offer competitive compensation and flexibility.  Minimum hourly rate will be $35-$40/hour depending on experience.
