John Westerman, Executive Vice President at Green Energy Corporation, has more than 25 years of experience in the development, evaluation, and application of energy technologies and systems. John has supported energy-related activities for the California Energy Commission (CEC), the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), the Gas Technology Institute, the U.S. Army Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (a division of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers), U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), the County of Los Angeles, Coachella Valley Association of Governments, the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, and numerous utility companies (electric, natural gas and water). Areas of expertise focus on energy end use for industrial, commercial, government and residential facilities and include the development of energy strategies, energy studies, energy policies, building benchmarking, energy audits, building retrocommissioning, and technology specific feasibility studies. Technologies of expertise include microgrids, alternate-fueled vehicles, advanced electric energy storage systems, smart grid technologies, thermal energy storage, building control systems, combined heat and power systems (CHP), fuel cells, photovoltaic systems (PV), desiccant cooling systems, energy modeling tools, lighting systems, and compressed air systems. John has had a leadership position in four energy start-up companies. He has a patent on an advanced energy storage system. He has an MBA from the University of San Diego and a BS in Physics from the University of California, San Diego.
